Opportunity to discuss assessment results with the jury Sunday 10-11.30am

A panel consisting of 3 to 5 people will evaluate and certify the instruments according to following criteria:

1. Sound

2. Function

3. Aesthetics

Rating scale for each criteria is 1 to 5 where 1 is not approved and 5 is excellent
The jury appoints a "winning instrument", Best in Show.
Crucial to be a winning nyckelharpa is that the sound is deemed the best among all submitted instruments.
The purpose of the assessment is to help the makers to obtain feedback on their constructions. Hopefully it will lead to improvements.

Most instruments submitted today has a much better quality compared to what prevailed in the 70 - and-80s. This is largely due to the annual exhibition and its assessment.

The jury usually consists of some of Sweden’s most skillful makers and musicians. Chairman of the jury is Esbjörn Hogmark.

News of the year is that visitors will have the possibility to meet with the individual makers in order to purchase an instrument.
